Our Story.

Welcome to our little love story. Let me start off by introducing myself… My name is Gabriella Hugh, I am the proud wife of a handsome Naval Officer named Nicolas, and the mom of a high maintenance pound pup named Tater. When I was 25 I decided to fly off the deep end and marry a man I met one time in high school. Oh, did I mention he lived across the country? Before we unpack all of that, let’s rewind…

Bride and groom in wedding attire standing close with foreheads touching, in front of large arched windows with blue curtains.
Young woman with long hair and tan skin sitting cross-legged on grass in a park, smiling, holding a happy tan and white dog with floppy ears and a red tongue, surrounded by leafy green trees.
A young woman in a shimmering black dress and a young man in a red shirt and jeans are smiling and posing together inside a well-lit restaurant or cafe, near a wooden table and chairs with large windows and a view of the street outside.

I lived and worked in Scottsdale, Arizona as a financial advisor and began talking to a prospective client that I wanted in my rolodex, his name was Nicolas Hugh. He was a man I had met one time after a high school dance years and years in the past. He was studying at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and was about to become a Naval Officer. My perfect client! While I talked to him for business, he had other plans…

A man in a U.S. Navy officer uniform smiling with a woman who has long brown hair, in front of a large navy ship with other people around on a cloudy day.

Hello my name in Nicolas Hugh, and I was totally and completely in love with Gabby. At first she wanted nothing to do with a romantic relationship. It must have been my smooth talking and charisma that woo’d her into giving me a chance (trust me, my talking was not smooth just ask her). Our dating life was horrible by all accounts, thanks to me. I promised her long walks on the beach in San Diego, but instead I gave her a deployment to the Middle East and Asia for 10 months. She stuck by me every step of the way and made me the luckiest man alive. Proposing to her a year later was the easiest decision I ever made in my life.

Now that the dust has settled on my crazy schedule (for now), I really wanted to help her achieve her goal of building a beauty salon of her dreams.

A man and a woman standing together outdoors in front of a white building with a black awning that has the words 'NICK & G's' and the number 6106. The man is wearing a dark blazer, black shirt, gray pants, and white shoes. The woman is wearing a shiny, cream-colored dress and nude high heels.

We have always taken on every challenge or large step as a team, and this has been our biggest yet. We wanted to build a salon that not only embodies our values, but also provides a true experience of care and quality. We are beyond excited to bring some beauty and class, or as we like to say, “Moxie” to you all!
